Pharma VSM is a valuable lean tool for usage in VSM events to improve pharma biotech plant production value streams to create the active pharma ingredient. 

• The Pharma VSM application is designed to increase the speed of each step in the improvement cycle (shown on the right), the quality of the improvement ideas generated, and clarity of the report out with current state, future state and implementation plan.
• The application understands pharma terms like seed train, upstream, downstream, batch record, turnaround time, CIP, SIP etc.. So you don’t need to create new variable names but can simple map and analyze using drag & drop.
• The map will help you remove waste and achieve an efficient balanced line and staffing plan for different demand scenarios. It highlights bottlenecks and losses in the value stream and permits “what-if” studies.

You can apply Pharma VSM in 2 different ways

• You can just sketch out the value stream (without metrics) and get agreement on it. This requires minimal training and is very fast.
• You can enhance the sketch with data values that will then automatically calculate lead time, capacity and resource utilization values and visualize them via automatic charts.
